Boab Prison tree at Derby
We only had one night in Derby. There isn't a lot to see and it was very hot. The prison tree is humbling when you consider the aboriginals were treated very badly by the white police not so long ago. They were kept in this Boab tree 7 kills from Derby.
Near the tree was an old concrete water trough. The longest one in Australia.
The four of us looked around the jetty, which looks like a popular fishing spot.
We made it to Fitzroy Crossing super early to get sites at the lodge. We were booked in by 11 am. There are a lot of us grey nomads on the road plus WA school holidays. Geike Gorge cruises are very popular and we were advised to get the 4pm one which unfortunately on the day it was overcast and no crocodile sightings. The Gorge is very picturesque

We enjoyed a BBQ after the cruise back at the Lodge. The cricket from England plus state of Origin were on while we were there.
An overnight stop at Halls Creek was enough as not much for us in that area. From there we went towards Wyndham for our farm stay at Parry's Farm.
