Peacocks at Sandfire Roadhouse
Sandfire Roadhouse was of course very remote although we had mobile and internet coverage. No TV again but never time to watch TV anyway, what with travelling time and early nights.
We found a small zoo at the roadhouse including a camel, a brahma bull lots of peacocks, kangaroos and geese. They all kept us amused for the afternoon.
We met a few people in the park and had happy hour with them. We got off early the following morning for our drive to Broome. We made sure we stopped for our usual morning cuppa at a rest stop.
A white faced heron on the way to Broome.
We booked into the caravan park before lunch in Broome. This park is closer to Cable Beach to where we stayed four years ago.
Luckily it was the right time of the month for the full moon and the Staircase to the Moon over Roebuck Bay.
The Mangrove Hotel was the perfect spot to view this smazing phenomenon where the full moon rising over the mud flats gives the illusion of a stair case leading up to the moon. The four of us had dinner at the hotel and had a prime spot when the moon rose at 7.47 pm
John and I have a good shady site in the park and we have stayed hooked up the three days and looked around Broome with Elaine and Bob in their car. We did a tour around the town and went out to a good lookout on Sunday. It was Bob's birthday so we had breakfast at McDonalds and walked around the markets afterwards
It's very warm in Broome, the mornings and nights are pleasantly cool and daytime temps are around 31c
Today we went to Malcolm Douglas's crocodile Park. We had photos taken with baby crocodiles and saw croc feeding. The park also had dingoes and various varieties of birds along with American Alligators.
Elaine Bob and I saw the sunset at Cable Beach, it is our last night in Broome
We are off to a Derby tomorrow.
