Life on the road

John has no sense of direction when it comes to finding his way back from the amenities block to our site. We do stay at a lot of different caravan parks and he does get up in the dark at some ungodly hour most days. This week we were in Broome and off he went around 5am to have a shower. I went back to sleep woke later and realised it was light outside and John wasn't inside.  It was 6.30 am by this time. I looked out several times and was starting to worry that maybe he had collapsed in the shower. Looking out again, I see him slowly coming towards our site.
He did get lost and walked around aimlessly for a while then decided his scuffs were too noisy and went into a toilet to change into his joggers.  Coming out he came face to face with a lady coming in and they both said "good morning" to one another. Yes, he was in the ladies toilet!
He hoped he wouldn't see her again around the camp.

Some days after driving 150 klms or so and having a break in the middle of nowhere, we head off again and John has his blinker on to turn out of a rest stop and ready to head back the way he came!  As I said, no sense of direction! I'm doing a bit more driving this trip and quite enjoy being on the mostly straight roads and taking in the changing landscape.

We have enjoyed many a happy hour and morning tea stops with Bob and Elaine since we left Sydney. The first few weeks we were rugged up in coats, hats and scarves  as winter's bite hit us hard when we stopped mid morning at rest stops that were usually in the wide open spaces with nothing for protection from the wind. On some days it was just too cold and we went into Elaine and Bob's van to keep warm.
Some days we had to resort to having our happy hour inside too as the short days lost any warmth of the sun by early afternoon.
The weather five weeks later has warmed up as we have got further north, so it's very pleasant to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air.
Time changes didn't cause us too much grief until in WA where they are two hours behind the East Coast. I changed my watch to local time and John didn't so we are living on two time changes which is silly.  If it's 4am   In WA John is on Sydney time so he is up and at 'em ready to start the day. What if it is dark? No problem!
